About Look Asia
Analysing Asia, understanding its future
Look Asia is an independent think tank based in Dhaka that studies the political, economic and social landscape of Asia. Our research covers policy, development, media and migration, with the aim of explaining how the region is changing and why it matters.
We start close to home. Bangladesh’s rapid development and its position between South and Southeast Asia make it a useful vantage point on the wider region, and much of our work connects Bangladeshi perspectives with developments across the continent.
We publish research and commentary and host conferences and roundtables on current political and social questions. Our contributors come from many disciplines and generations, and we believe good analysis depends on that range of voices.
Why Asia matters
Asia’s economic growth, demographic change and political transformation are reshaping global affairs. From emerging markets to regional cooperation and cultural influence, the region plays an increasingly central role in the world. We study these shifts through research grounded in regional context and attentive to their global significance.
Where we’re heading
As Look Asia grows, we will extend our coverage to more countries and issues across Asia, add research reports and briefing notes to our commentary, and continue to host discussions that bring researchers, policymakers and the public together.
